several thousands alr (even after depleting Medisave)

letter still keep coming... dun even know paying for when and wat alr...

got the job! after much worry, much consideration, and much indecisiveness.

tendered resignation. applied for reservist deferrement.

booked holiday to tw :)

 

wee! AVA called up. got interview for me to a position i applied for in march. took them long enuff... applied back then due to initial contract expiring at current job.

well wishes from all over for my interview, i felt lucky... i think...

wondered if i would hear from MOM or another safety related job, that would be dilemma...

 

we had started letting mom drink water from straw and it was working for awhile.

made an extra appt for her to see speech therapist besides her visit to ttsh for medication. therapist and dietician gave some advice on how to let mom slowly switch from liquid feed through ryles tube to oral feeding.

that evening, mom pulled out the ryles tube again, nursing home decided to leave it out and started feeding liquid feed by straw.

(to date, mom is eating semi solid food alr, porridge and stuff :) )

 

08 Apr 2008 marks one yr to my service in nus. contract got extented but not for a yr, until dec 2008 only, due to project life.

 

 

i somehow stopped blogging since march, dunno why but i juz didn't feel like doin it.

finally changing job, so now clearing my leave. quite free, but not very free also, dunno bz with wat.

tot i owe my blog some attention so here i am typing again. there's some catching up to do, hopefully my memory will serve me well with the upcoming post.

 

 

 

Birthday came and gone...

I didn't wan any celebration, so i didn't get any celebration.

Peaceful is good, but somehow i feel that smth's missing...

As usual, i dunno wat i wan.

my uncle (mom's youngest brother) passed away on 15 march 2008...

he was the smartest in the family and the most successful in terms of career. sadly, he sufferred dementia abt 10+ years back and then gotten bed-ridden after having a stroke.

he used to live in katong area's landed property before he got cheated of his $ in some business venture...

back when i was younger and when my grandfather was still ard, my bro and i would be over at my grandfather's place during most of our sch hols. during weekdays, we  would see my uncle come over for lunch from work and have a short nap before goin back to work. often, my bro would be asked to help him go downstair to tear a new parking coupon for his car. at weekends family gathering, he would bring his family (including my 2 cousin) over. the kids, my bro, my cousin and me would play and the adults would catch up. my uncle would be in the room having intellectual conversation with my 2nd uncle and the more elder cousin.

time to time he would org gathering at his place, usually my cousin's bday or chinese new year. the house was big, 3 stories above ground and a kitchen/basement level. he kept a pet dog and had a 4-seater swing at the lawn. his study room had full length shelves filled with books, ranging from encyclopedia to classic novels. he read alot and was very knowwledgable.

time to time he would have my grandfather over at his place to stay for weeks to spend time tog. after my grandfather passed away, he insisted on having an ancestral tablet at home (when he could still call the shots and when he was still of taoist faith). he watched out for my elder aunt alot too as she was handicap in her movement. he would bring her out often to places with his family in his car.

when my bro was younger, he was totally not into studying. my uncle took time to come over to our house in the evening after work to coach him. later when my dad passed away, he also helped our family alot through the crisis.

regretfully, our meetings became lesser as kids grow up to become more preoccupied with wat not and after he was bed-ridden, he missed out on the family gatherings which were also becoming less and less frequent. it came a point where we would only see each other once or twice a year having one occasion to be chinese new year. this year, we had missed out on visiting him during chinese new year even though we had planned for it to be a muz, and now, we will never get the chance to visit him again.

the wake and service were in a christian manner. i didn't know he was baptised, but according to family, he was. sitting through the service on the first nite and looking at his smiling pic, i cant help but recall the way he use to talk abt the religion with my 2nd uncle as a non-believer with that expression. 2nd nite, i helped entertain the guest (my mom's cousins). they had only good things to say abt my uncle and i could see that they really missed him.

3rd and final nite, mom's in nursing home and bro has chicken pox. i had been the rep from my household for this 3 days. had initially planned to follow all the way to the crematorium and see through the whole funeral precession, but was given the task to look after my aunt instead. she didn't take the passing of my uncle too well and had decided not to follow to the crematorium. i was told to send her back after the last service and keep her company.

my uncle's 4 children; 3 daughters & 1 son:-
eldest, married, with a baby daughter of less than one year of age
2nd, juz started working as a teacher for less than a year
3rd, awaiting to enter university
4th, still in secondary sch

he loved them all, doted on the 3rd since the gap with the 2nd was ~7 years. was elated when the 4th came along.
sadly, 3rd and 4th hardly had the chance to know him well as his illnesses struck when they were still little.

he was a great man, and i have faith in all his children. i hope for them to be the best that they can be, with the traits of their father.
